We know that many in our community don't have the benefit of close family, friends and neighbours on hand to help with everyday essential tasks. That's why our volunteers are on hand to step in and support the most in need and vulnerable across Essex.
Are you in need of some assistance?
If you are in need of some support, please use our service - it's what we're here for! Our volunteers can help with the following activities:
- Buddy support for tasks such as shopping, dog walking, physical activity, IT issues
- Food shopping
- Dog walking
- Keep a garden accessible (grass gutting and weed control)
- Medicine collecting
- Posting Mail
- Phone Friend
- Safeguarding door-step check
- Transport to hospital or GP
Volunteers are giving up their valuable time if and when they can. This means that the support of a volunteer cannot always be guaranteed within a certain timeframe.

Do volunteers require financial information?
The Essex Wellbeing Service is completely free. This means our volunteers do not require any bank details or financial information in exchange for their duties.
The only situation where money is exchanged is when a volunteer is carrying out a shopping or medication collection service.
Shopping and/or medication can be paid for by cash, if receiving support directly from an EWS volunteer.
If, however, someone is unable to pay by cash they can receive support from a trusted Community Agent and payments for shopping can be done via:
- Self-payment (Prepaid internet/Telephone order for collection)
- Cheque payable to RCCE
- Online through the RCCE website
- Bank Transfer to RCCE
