Essex County Council (ECC) has funded four voluntary and community organisations across the county to support children, young people and adults who have experienced loss.

Grief and bereavement can significantly affect a person’s mental health, often leaving them lonely, overwhelmed and unsure about where to turn.

Person-centred support

Support will be delivered in a range of ways, including face-to-face, in person, online or as part of a wider group, in line with the person’s needs.

The new support is solutions focused. This means professionals will work together with residents, based on their needs, to enable them to develop positive coping strategies and practical, gradual steps to cope.

This approach will help people develop increased resilience, improve their mental health and ensure they know how, when and where to access ongoing support as they come to terms with their loss.
