Spot the warning signs
In the same way as learning physical first aid, MHFA teaches people how to recognise those crucial warning signs of mental ill health and feel confident to guide someone to appropriate support. Embedding MHFA training within any organisation or community also encourages people to talk more freely about mental health, reducing stigma and creating a more positive culture.
How to become a Mental Health First Aider
The Working Well programme is proud to be able to provide Essex businesses the opportunity to receive Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training. During the current Covid-19 restrictions we can offer your organisation online Mental Health First Aid England training. Once restrictions lift we will return to also offering the face-to-face option.
The MHFA training can be a bespoke, in-house training or at a site based in Essex. Training courses are run every month. To date the Working Well team have trained 2000+ staff in Mental Health First Aid and Mental Health Awareness.
Working Well can also offer two bespoke, in-house stress workshops (both free of charge). These include the following:
- 4 hour Managers Stress Awareness
- 2 hour Staff Stress Awareness LITE
Offers and Training
Working Well would like to support small and medium sized businesses as we move into a 2nd lockdown and mental health and resilience is of Essex is of paramount importance. We have launched today 2 unmissable offers:
- A FREE Workplace COVID Clinic, run by our HR Specialist to offer support to small businesses - 3pm on 24th November 2020
- 70 FREE half day MHFA England Mental Health Awareness training places in December and January (RRP £150)
These places will be limited to one per organisation and places will be booked on a first come, first served basis:
- Tues 8th December 2020
- Thur 10th December 2020
- Thur 17th December 2020
- Thurs 7th January 2021

Working Well are proud to offer participating companies free access to the following additional online mental health training:
- 4 hour Stress Managers Awareness workshop
- 2 hour Staff Awareness workshop
- 45 min Lunch and Learn: What’s in your Stress Container
- 45 min Lunch and Learn: Managing you working from home/life balance
These sessions are delivered on a rolling weekly basis.
